Citroen C3

The new Citroen C3 only scored four stars in EuroNCAP crash test again, the results were issued today for her as for seven other major models destined for European markets. Outcome is not fully positive, then: missing the perfect score.

The reason is plain: the new Citroen C3 does not offer the ESP as standard on at least 85% of the versions in which it is proposed in the markets. And since the new strict EuroNCAP remove a star from the overall assessment in the absence of this device, that’s what the result.

Speaking to us about it, the public relations manager of Citroen Italy Marco Freschi said noting in each case the robustness of the chassis and body, witnessed by 83% achieved in protecting adults from 74% in protecting children, but did not deny a some regret for the poor results obtained in the “active safety systems.”

Assignment Opel, speak unions; GM undecided too many political interests at stake?

After the words Merkel on the issue of GM-Opel, is now the turn of the unions through the voice of the works council head Klaus Franz (in photo) comes a “tough call” to the American home to make a decision between Magna and Rhj International. “We have exhausted the patience and if nothing will change by the end of the week you are sure to use some dramatically.” With these words, Franz has expressed concern and anger of the innocent workers and employees Opel, too many months now waiting to learn his fate.

The German government has used more moderate, but equally eager to avoid a “cold war” to the new Obama administration. General elections are close and German Chancellor Merkel would be a panacea to get to the elections with practice Opel closed, 25,000 jobs and secured many votes made in the safe.

Meanwhile, GM still seems far from the final decision. Magna, supported financially by the Russian bank Sberbank, is favored by the German government and because in the Austrian part (and therefore culturally close), both for business relations between Russia and Germany. And here might be the single biggest obstacle for Americans of GM.

Germany: a government plan for 1 million electric cars in 2020

Posted under Uncategorized on Monday, 7 September 2009 by theautoabc

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has launched a major government project that will promote the purchase of electric cars. The goal is to reach 1 million units in 2020, through incentives, but also creating the necessary infrastructure and already in 2012 we hope to have touched the 100,000 copies.

This decision will surely lead to an acceleration of projects of major German manufacturers and international will not only accelerate the release of several models, but will also need to find new technological solutions to make attractive and easily used cars: battery life, system recharge and their distribution on the territory will be the key elements and there is a good bet that after Germany, other European countries follow the same path.

Tesla: in 2016 a power less than $ 30,000

Posted under Uncategorized on Monday, 7 September 2009 by theautoabc

Tesla plans a strong expansion thanks to the 450 million obtained from the U.S. Department of Energy. And in fact scheduled for 2016 debut of an economic model, priced less than $ 30,000, which will allow Tesla to substantially increase production.

Compared with 1000 units planned for the Roadster and 20,000 copies of its promising Model S, Tesla wants to reach the 100,000 units with the new project, also characterized by the only power supply. Obviously this would also have to compete directly with major manufacturers in the world who are working hard to propose their own solutions, whether electric, hybrid plug-in, EREV. Tesla could also face competition of Fisker, equally concerned to increase the numbers of production with a hybrid middle class.
